Resident and Staff on Sofa Smiling

Producing Lifelong Smiles at Beaumont Manor

It is a common fact that gaining access to dental services is difficult for many in the community, including our residents at Beaumont Manor. In the current system, it can often take many months for residents to be seen by a community dentist, especially those who are supported in bed due to their care needs or who use a wheelchair. We understand the importance of continuing dental health and ensuring residents enjoy the best quality of life possible.

Because of this, we have signed up for the Lifelong Smile Project run by the Essex local authority in partnership with the Community Dental Services. The first phase of the project includes providing extensive training to chosen staff, who become the oral care champions. We chose Karen and Martine, who are passionate about ensuring residents receive exceptional care around the clock. The Lifelong Smile Project will visit our immobile residents and have a specialised clinic to accommodate wheelchair users. Our oral champions are on hand to escalate any concerns to ensure the needs of our residents continue to be met promptly.

At Beaumont Manor Care Home, we are aware of the negative impact that poor oral hygiene and lack of support can have on our residents including disrupted sleep, pain, discomfort or infection. Our dedicated team take pride in the first-class care and support we offer our residents to ensure they don't experience any of this. Our dining team also work closely with residents to ensure their meals are enjoyable and nutritious. By participating in the Lifelong Smiles Project, our staff have created further links within the local community and feel confident that the oral needs of our residents won't just be met, but will be exceeded.
