A Taste Of Spanish Culture At Beaumont Manor

Residents at Beaumont Manor Care Home in Frinton-on-Sea enjoyed a taste of Spanish culture when Elisa Perez from Viva Moments visited the home for a special cultural wellbeing session.

Elisa runs Spanish-inspired sessions for care homes and community groups, using music, conversation and gentle activities to introduce people to different aspects of Spanish language and culture. Her visit gave residents the chance to try something a little different while spending time together and enjoying a relaxed afternoon.

The session began with residents learning some Spanish words and phrases, giving everyone the opportunity to pick up a few new expressions and have a go at speaking another language. There was plenty of conversation throughout the session, with residents sharing their thoughts and getting involved at their own pace.

Music played an important part in bringing the experience to life, with residents enjoying singing and dancing together. The familiar sounds created a lovely atmosphere and encouraged everyone to join in, whether by singing along, having a dance or simply enjoying the music.

Residents also took part in colourful creative activities, adding another element to the afternoon. The hands-on activities gave everyone the chance to be creative while chatting with friends and spending quality time together.

Sessions like this can provide opportunities for reminiscence too, particularly when music, language and cultural experiences bring back memories of holidays, travels or people and places from the past. For residents who have memories of visiting Spain, the session offered a chance to share those experiences, while for others it was simply an opportunity to learn something new.

Most importantly, the afternoon gave residents the chance to try something different and enjoy an experience together. The combination of music, movement, conversation and creativity made for a varied and engaging session, with plenty of smiles and interaction along the way.
