Winter Carol Singers

The Brightlingsea Choir brought extra Christmas cheer to our residents last week.

The 30-strong Winter Choir sang a flurry of festive tunes, including all the classics, at our home.

Many of our residents (and staff) got up to dance along to the songs. Members of the choir also shared a mince pie with our residents whilst raising money for the Christian charity, Embrace the Middle East, which aims to bring a lasting change to the region through healthcare, educations and community development projects.

Our Home Manager, Kay Farrell said: "As this is our first Christmas since opening we are enjoying a wide range of festive events at Beaumont Manor. From our experience, activities which involve music and socialising are always successful. We find music is particularly valuable to our residents as it brings such a wide range of benefits."

"Music has the power to shift mood, manage stress, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function and coordinate motor movements. It has even been shown that by evoking emotion music can help aid the memory."

"The choir sang beautifully and it was wonderful to see our residents enjoying the afternoon and singing along to well-loved Christmas songs!"
